Boat of Garten South Cabin

With the end of the running season and the Scotsman visits finished for the year. Time has been spent in the signal box re-arranging the “furniture”. The Block instrument to Aviemore had been installed along the back wall beside the omnibus phones. Historicity this was incorrect. With evidence from photographs from the 1960 era. It is clear, that the block instrument was at the end of the frame with the bell on the wall above it. It was decided that the token instrument and bell should be moved back to there original positions to try and recreate the look of the 1960 signal box.

South yard Signals at Boat of Garten

 Work has been continuing at Boat of Garten with the completion of the entrance and exit signals. For the routes in and out of the yard. New interlocking has been added into the leaver frame and LED signal lighting has been included. The signals are controlled using traditional wire runs with the detection of 8 points included.  The old number 7 signal dolly has been replaced with a twin disc. Top disc is number 7 for the route onto the Up loop. The bottom disc is the new yard entrance, number 22.

Boat of Garten, now boasts having fully electricity lit signals. With the last of the paraffin lamps now being removed.
